Moderate risk
SSRIs and SNRIs (antidepressants)
- Why it happens
- There may be additive effects on serotonin signalling, and there are case reports of hypomania or heightened anxiety.
- What it means for you
- For most patients the interaction is mild, if it shows up at all. A small group finds that THC on top of an SSRI makes anxiety worse.
- What Tiffany advises
- This is reasonable to try once your prescriber knows. Start with a low THC dose and keep a daily mood note so you can spot a change early.
